The Mandalorian

Throw in a bit of the spaghetti western A Fistful of Dollars, a dash of the graphic novel Lone Wolf and Cub, and a sprinkling of John Wick, blend it all togehter and set it in the Star Wars universe and you get Disney's show The Mandalorian!

Here is my V&V3: Mighty Protectors write-up of the "Mando"! Below I'll go over the reasons why I choose certain traits or abilities.

Neutral Side - I made the Mandalorian Neutral because "good" people don't usually go around disintegrating other sentient beings. On the other hand, he's not all bad, with redeemable qualities such as saving "baby Yoda".

Incredibly Accurate - The Mando rarely ever misses when shooting someone. So, I gave him lots of heightened expertise.

Disintegration - In the Mighty Protectors rules it's hard to disintegrate an individual because, as the rules say "living things struck with Disintegration energy don’t vaporize - they merely ‘disrupt’, taking full damage from the attack, but not actually disintegrating until they’re no longer living".

However, if one were to use a "High Lethality" rule for a Mighty Protectors campaign (see below), then it becomes much easier to actually disintegrate a living being.

Arsenal - The Mando has a lot of gear, from armor to weapons and lots of things in between. Arsenal is the best and cheapest way to do this in the MP system. You can see the detailed arsenal write-up here: Mandalorian Arsenal.

Stats - I gave Mando fairly high stats but nothing superhuman. He's the equivalent of a world-class athlete.

Wealth - The world of the Mandalorian does involve money. He earns it from doing bounties and he spends it upgrading or fixing his armor, fueling his ship, and paying for weapon cells, and so forth.

Weaknesses - In the first episode, the Mandalorian expresses distaste for droids, so I gave him the appropriate character hook. He also seems keen on following The Way of the Mandalorian religion. Thus another compulsion for that.

Vehicle - I had previously written-up the Mando's ship. You can see that post here: Razor Crest Gunship

High Lethality Campaign - Roll damage normally. Multiply by five any damage the character takes beyond 0 hits. This can easily kill "normal" characters, but will not outright kill player-characters or important npc's, who tend to have many more hit points than an average person.

For example, the Mando averages 17 points of damage with his disruptor rifle (disintegration). An average person can roll with 4, take 4 hits putting them at 0. The remaining 9 hits are multiplied by five: 9x5=45, which is more than their remaining 36 power. Because they are dead by disintegration ray, their body vaporizes.

Notes:

  1. 12-06-19 I've updated the Mando's arsenal to include devices shown in episode 5: flash charge and handcuffs!
