Venom

Here's my V&V3.0: Mighty Protectors write-up for Venom, a Marvel super-villain (and later anti-hero), who was originally a foe of Spider-Man.

Created by David Michelinie and Todd McFarlane, Venom's first full appearance was in Amazing Spider-Man #300, published May, 1988.

This version of Venom hails from the comics of the late 1980's to the early 1990's. In these issues, Venom is most definitely a villain, and on more than one occasion, even though he remarks how it is "regrettable" to kill an innocent person, that's exactly what he does.

Venom is much stronger than Spider-Man, and definitely stronger than his "official" ability of being able to lift 11 tons. In several of these early issues he lifts and throws cars and lifts a bulldozer.

Venom's webbing is just like Spider-Man's web, only it's natural -- not from a gadget.

Venom is highly accurate; he often hits victims in the face with his webbing. In MP, this is a called shot with a penalty of -6 to hit. Venom actually asphyxiates to death several innocent victims by webbing over their mouth and nose.

The Venom "skin" can change its shape to almost anything, thus I gave him the Shape-Shifting ability along with Invisibility with the Camouflage modifier.

Using the LInked modifier is the closest I could come to simulating how Venom is a symbiote that lives "inside" Eddie. The times when the symbiote is driven out of Eddie can be done in Mighty Protectors by using the Siphon ability, with all of Venom's abilities treated as one because they are linked together.

Morbius (Bronze Age)

Here's my V&V3.0: Mighty Protectors write-up for Morbius, a Marvel super-villain (and later anti-hero), who was originally a foe of Spider-Man.

This version of Morbius hails from the early 1970's to about 1980. In the issues I read he does not exhibit any of the following abilities: mind control, turning to mist, or regeneration.

Morbius first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #101, published October, 1971.

Here's my V&V3.0: Mighty Protectors write-up for the Kingpin, a Marvel super-villain and long-time Spider-Man foe! Note that this is the Silver Age version of the villain with stats and abilities as they were depicted in early issues of The Amazing Spider-Man comic book.

The Kingpin was created by Stan Lee and John Romita, Sr. and first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #50, published July, 1967.

Here's my V&V3.0: Mighty Protectors write-up for the Rhino, a Marvel super-villain and long-time Spider-Man foe!

2. This write-up reflects the Rhino's Silver Age abilities.
3. Even though the Rhino's body was transformed by the treatments he received, he is essentially a normal (albeit a strong and brutish) man without his suit. This is modeled by giving him "Psychological Dependence", a weakness worth (-10) CPs.

The Scorpion

Here's my V&V3.0: Mighty Protector write-up for the Scorpion, a long-time Spider-Man foe! This write-up reflects the Scorpion's abilities as they were presented in The Amazing Spider-Man, issue #20, #29, #145, and #146.

The Scorpion was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, and first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #20, published October, 1964.

2. Gargan's scorpion suit seems rather flimsy; aside from the pincer fingers and the cybernetic tail, it's just a costume.
3. In Amazing Spider-Man #318, writer David Michelinie gives the Scorpion new abilities that are not reflected in this write-up.

Star Knight

Star Knight was a character that I had initially created as an NPC for one of my superhero V&V3.0: Mighty Protectors campaigns, but I ported him over to my brother's ongoing Ultraverse campaign, where I've played him off and on for a while.

Origin:

Sir Walter Ealdwyne was a lesser-known knight of King Arthur's Court. Although strong and brave, his exploits were never heralded as much as some of the other knights. It was during the quest for the Holy Grail that the sorceress Morgan Le Fay cast a spell of eternal sleep upon him. His body was laid in the crypt in a castle which was later destroyed and buried. Sir Walter lay in an enchanted sleep for 2000 years.

He was awakened in the year 2415 by scientists of a highly technologically advanced Utopian society. He was given cybernetic parts and given a new mission: to travel back in time to prevent a coming cataclysm.

His nano-bot steed, Starion, was supposed to be given the knowledge of what to do, but a mistake led to the construct knowing 20th century pop-cultural references. As such, Sir Walter is not exactly sure what he is supposed to do. In the meantime, he has become a superhero.

Personality:

Sir Walter speaks archaically, with a lot of thees and thous. He can try to speak normally, but to do so he must make an IN saving throw at a -4 penalty. Because he has sworn an Oath of Knighthood, Sir Walter will: not lie nor cheat, will defend those who cannot defend themselves, give respect and care to women, and will give mercy when asked. To temporarily forswear his oath, he must make a CL save task check roll at a penalty of -4.

Tactics:

Upon the initiation of combat, Star Knight will spend 1" of movement to activate his linked abilities of Reflection and Shield. If his mount has not already been summoned, he will do that for his movement, and then go on Full Defense (+6 to Defense).

In the ensuing rounds of combat he will attack his foe(s) with his sword until his victory or defeat.

Quote:

Let it be known that thou face a true knight of King's Arthur's Court. If thou shalt not yield, then let martial combat decide thy fate!

Notes:
1. Sir Walter carries his summoned creature's second communicator "unit", which is a nano-sized object, within his head. The communicator operates for one hour if Sir Walter spends 2 Power. Note that Starion must also spend 2 Power to make his communicator work for one hour.

Kraven the Hunter

Here's my MP write-up for the Kraven the Hunter, a Marvel super-villain and long-time Spider-Man foe!

Kraven first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #15, published August, 1964. He was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.

2. This write-up reflects Kraven's Silver Age abilities.
3. Here is the link to the Kraven's Arsenal.
4. Motivation. I went with Conquest for Kraven's Motivation because it seems to fit him best. He wants to dominate his foes, such as Spider-Man.
5, Origin Type. The first time we see Kraven, he talks about how he gained his abilities by drinking a witch-doctor's potion, which seems to best fit Mystical Project.
6. Using Multi-Ability on Natural Weaponry and Paralysis Ray (Kraven's "nerve punch") is a good way to save points.
7. Speed. Kraven claims to run as fast as a cheetah in short bursts, which is about 60 mph. If he pushes his speed he can get to 66 mph for one round.

4. If the Goblin uses the darkness control ability on his glider, the smoke will last 6 rounds, or until it is blown away.
5. Normal Osborn's basic characteristics seem to have been increased somewhat by his exposure to the green gas, but not to super-human levels.
