Fighting Yank

Here is the Fighting Yank, a Golden Age superhero who was created by Richard Hughes and Jon Blummer. He debuted in Startling Comics #10, published by Nedor Comics in September 1941.

Wealthy Bruce Carter III is paid a visit by the ghost of his long-dead ancestor Bruce Carter I*. The ghost tells Bruce that he must help save his country and to find his hidden cloak. The next day, thinking the ghost was merely a dream, Bruce nevertheless searches the attic of his ancestral estate and finds a magic cloak that was hidden in a secret compartment.

The cloak confers super-strength and flight to Bruce as well as provides immunity from gunfire. With his magic cloak, tri-corner hat, and Revolutionary War outfit, Bruce becomes the Fighting Yank, a super-heroic champion of America!

I made the ghost of Bruce Carter I a Companion... as he helps the Fighting Yank get out of tough situations over and over again.

American Crusader

Here's my Mighty Protectors write-up for American Crusader, a golden age superhero who debuted in Thrilling Comics #19, published by Better Publications, Inc. in August, 1941.

After having discovered a new planet near Uranus, Professor Archibald Masters runs to inform another professor about his discovery. Excited by his find, he's unaware that he is running through a room where an atom-smasher experiment is being conducted. The energy released almost kills him, leaving him in a deep coma for days. When he awakens, he quickly learns that he has super-powers, and begins a career as the crime-fighting American Crusader!

His secretary is an attractive woman named Jane Peters who is very often kidnapped, knocked-out, taken prisoner, or in put into danger and her life is threatened. Unbeknownst to Jane, her meek boss is also the super-powered American Crusader, who saves her time after time.

Silver Streak

Here's my Mighty Protectors write-up for Silver Streak, a golden age superhero who debuted in Silver Streak Comics #3, published by Lev Gleason Comics in March, 1940.

Silver Streak is the second superhero to ever have the ability of super-speed, with the first being The Flash. Also interesting is that he's one of the first superheroes to team up with another superhero when he meets with and helps Daredevil fight off Axis forces in Europe.

To simulate his numerous "speed stunts" I use MP's Arsenal ability, which you can see on a google sheet entitled: Silver Streak's Power Stunts. For example, he's not super strong but by whirling someone around he can fling them off at an incredible velocity... or he can use the amazing speed of his leg to kick someone a tremendous distance.

Daredevil (Golden Age)

Here's my Mighty Protectors write-up of the Golden Age Daredevil, a hero created by Jack Binder and Don Rico. Daredevil made his first appearance in Silver Streak Comics #6 (published September, 1940).

While on a trip to Australia, Bart's wealthy parents were killed. Subsequently, he was raised by a tribe of Aborigines, where he learns how to wield the boomerang. He later returns to the United States, reclaims his family's estate. He soon dons a red and blue costume, and using his athleticism and expert marksman skills, he becomes a street vigilante known as the Daredevil.

Daredevil's stats and abilities shown here are based upon his appearances in Daredevil Comics #1 through #5.

Notes:
1. The "Combat Luck" is a meta way of simulating how Daredevil seems to be missed a lot by the bad guys -- even when he isn't running or dodging -- but he can be knocked-out when a thug sneaks up on him and hits him on the head.
