Serpent Society

The Serpent Society is a Marvel Comics villainous organization started by the super-villain known as Sidewinder. All of the villains within the group have a snake theme. The Society debuted in Captain America #310, published October 1985, and was created by Mark Gruenwald and Paul Neary.

Serpent Society Initial Appearance

The initial roster of villains included: Anaconda, Asp (1st appearance), Bushmaster (1st appearance), Cobra, Cottonmouth (1st appearance), Diamondback (1st appearance), Black Mamba, Death Adder, Princess Python, Rattler, and Sidewinder.

Later inducted villains included: Black Racer, Boomslang, Coachwhip, Copperhead, Fer-de-Lance, Puff Adder, and Rock Python.

The Society took jobs from criminal organizations such as A.I.M., Hydra, Kingpin, Maggia, and Zodiac.

Sidwinder Talks Unionization

The Serpent Society even had its own hidden base, called the Serpent Citadel. It also had flying vehicles called Serpent Saucers as well as some ordinary cargo vans.
